TTT – Fairytale Retellings

I’m a sucker for a good retelling. The first 5 are my favorites from the ones I’ve read, and the rest are the ones I’m most looking forward to reading.

  1. Cinder by Marissa Meyer (book one of The Lunar Chronicles). These books are so good!!! My heart is in agony, waiting for Winter for so long…
  2. Of Beast and Beauty by Stacey Jay. This book is a stellar retelling of Beauty and the Beast, but Beauty is blind. It is so unique and creative and heartbreaking and wonderful all at once.
  3. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. This book just took my heart and smashed it and then glued it back together like that would make me okay again. I AM NOT OKAY.
  4. The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh. All I can say is that this book is wonderful.
  5. Splintered by A.G. Howard. This book was great while reading it, and certainly very unique and entertaining. I loved the concept, but I must say I am team Morpheus!
  6. Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge. I’ve heard mixed reviews about this book, but I’ve had great luck with my Beauty and the Beast retellings and so I can’t wait to read this one.
  7. Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson. I started this book several times but have not managed to finish it, but I really want to!! I have heard only lovely things about it.
  8. Ash & Bramble by Sarah Prineas. This book has a gorgeous cover, and it’s a Cinderella retelling. That’s really all I need to know to be intrigued.
  9. A Thousand Nights by E.K. Johnston. This is another gorgeous cover, but this one is a retelling of One Thousand and One Arabian Nights, and so because of how much I loved The Wrath and the Dawn I can’t wait to try this one.
  10. Queen of Hearts: The Crown by Colleen Oakes. I actually just discovered this book today while researching for this list, and it sounds fantastic! The final line in the synopsis is this: “This is the story of a princess who became a villain.”
